This exciting project sought to add new life to a longstanding family home in South London.
The client, who had grown up in the house, took over the family home with the goal of creating something incredibly unique, while also wholeheartedly celebrating it's Victorian roots. Original details of the house were painstakingly exposed or restored. The cornices were recast, rafters exposed and sash windows frames as pieces of art.
The original house was then expanded with rear and loft extensions, spaces that bring the house into the 21st century. The soft curves of the original joinery and skirtings was brought into the feel of the new spaces, as was the tactility of the original house. these new spaces benefit from exposed timber, concrete bricks a plaster.
The rear extension is designed as a picture window, with minimal window frames, drawing the lush rear garden into the lounge.
The project is due to complete in 2020, so we hope to have more pictures soon!
