This exciting project sought to add new life to a longstanding family home in South London.
The client, who had grown up in the house years previous, had taken over the family home with the goal of creating something wholly unique while staying true to its Victorian roots. The house’s original details were painstakingly exposed, restored and celebrated. Cornices were recast, rafters exposed, and sash windows framed as pieces of art.
The original house was then expanded with rear and loft extensions, spaces that bring the house into the 21st century. The rear extension was designed as a picture window, with minimal window frames, drawing the lush rear garden into the lounge. The soft curves of the original joinery and skirtings were brought into the design of the new spaces, as was the tactility of the original house.
